  • Bashall Spirits Damson & Elderberry Gin

Bringing to life flavours from the past through long-cherished family recipe books from Bashall’s home in the idyllic village of Bashall Eaves in Lancashire’s Forest of Bowland.

Bashall Damson & Elderberry Gin harks back to a time when flavoured wines and beers were commonly created from hedgerow ingredients and orchard fruit.

Bashall’s fruitiest gin – Damson & Elderberry – is based on a Damson wine recipe. Damson trees were very common features of English orchards, and the twist Anne gave to her wine recipe is the addition of rich elderberries, which grow abundantly in fields and woods across the UK even today. The fragrant flowers of the elder bush have become very commonly used as a flavour in recent time, but the delicious berries are inexplicably largely overlooked.

Taking inspiration from recipes for these home-made tipples, this gin perfectly balances rich damson fruit, sweet-tart elderberry and classic juniper.

This is a smooth juniper-forward gin with a soft sweetness and elegant character, perfect in a variety of drinks from a refreshing G&T to a crisp Martini.

  • Bashall Spirits Orange & Quince Gin

Bringing to life flavours from the past through long-cherished family recipe books from Bashall’s home in the idyllic village of Bashall Eaves in Lancashire’s Forest of Bowland.

Bashall’s Orange & Quince Gin has been inspired by a collection of beautifully handwritten marmalade or ‘marmalet’ recipes from the 1750s. Oranges have been widely imported to England for centuries, and Anne enchanted their citrussy tartness by the addition of jammy quince.

Quince trees grow widely across England and can still be found, though not so commonly, and the fruit was frequently used in 18th century recipes.

These zesty flavours are perfectly captured in a gin that is bursting with aromas of citrus, and balances orange, jammy quince fruit and classic juniper.

  • Bashall Spirits Parkin Cake Gin

Bringing to life flavours from the past through long-cherished family recipe books from Bashall’s home in the idyllic village of Bashall Eaves in Lancashire’s Forest of Bowland.

Parkin is a traditional cake in Lancashire and Yorkshire that is widely eaten even today. Every family would have had their own recipe, and Bashall’s gin is inspired by Jennet’s 19th-century version. Lancashire Parkin differs from Yorkshire Parkin, and locals may want to know which county Jennet’s inspiration comes from. Bashall is in Lancashire, but was in the West Riding of Yorkshire until the 70s – but it was right on the Lancashire border and separated from the rest of Yorkshire by the fells of the Forest of Bowland. So really it’s the best of both! The key flavours of both kinds of Parkin are treacle and ginger, so we think our Parkin can be enjoyed by everyone, whether you favour the white rose or the red.

Bashall’s parkin recipe dates back to the Victorian era, a time when every northern family would have had their own take on this traditional treat.

Capturing the comforting aromas and flavours of treacle and ginger spice, our Parkin Cake Gin is an enticing and distinctively warming spirit.

  • Doghouse Distillery – Renegade Gin

**We currently have an offer on for a free virtual tour of Doghouse Distilleries with every bottle ordered!**

Renegade gold medal, award winning gin.

It is the only “grain to glass” gin produced in London and one of a handful in the whole of the UK. We are not fans of following the traditional route in distilling (or life), and Renegade is contemporary on all levels.

Doghouse use 14 botanials in total. All the usual ‘ginny’ suspects are there such as juniper, coriander, angelica, orris, however what stands Renegade out from the crowd is the use of green, leafy botanicals such as bay, sage, winter savoury and cardamom to give it leafy fresh pine, herbaceousness on the palate. And a hint of warmth and spice is down to the addition of a West African pepper called Grains of Paradise.

This badass gin is insanely sessionable, deliciously herbaceous and piney, with a smooth, lingering finish.

Fun fact – the label was designed by a tattoo artist!

Perfect Serve: Premium Indian Tonic Water (regular or light) & a Sprig of Rosemary

The second Sidewayz product made at Doghouse is their Damson Gin, made using damsons that they picked themselves at a friends farm in Sussex, and macerated for three months in our Renegade Gin.

Rich and smooth with just the right amount of bitter and sweet. Slightly more tart than their Sloe Gin.

Perfect Serve: Perfect neat (especially in winter months), or mix it up, over ice with Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic and a slice of orange!
