I’ve been over to see pHure Liquors and their lovely, environmentally friendly distillery. Whilst getting to know more about their gin, chatting with Kevin and Cath and giving Stanley (the gin dog) a fuss it was easy to see why pHure make such splendid gins – they have as much technical knowhow as they do passion for gin!
Their gin is distilled under reduced pressure which means less heat is needed, good for the environment and for the taste! I don’t know of an gin made in this way anywhere else so I can only assume they are on to something here as the gin is a lovely balance of flavour and certainly is what it says on the label – smooth. Definitely one to try.
More from pHure:
At pHure we take an environmentally friendly approach to the production of our products. We have installed solar panels to generate the electricity to run our still and the heat generated in cooling the distillate is used for warming the distillery. All of our ingredients are sourced from sustainable sources and composted after use. We try and ensure that all of our packaging is recyclable and wherever possible made from recycled material. We also reuse packaging in which goods are sent to us.
PHure Liquors is a small spirit making company. It is run by three scientists who have complimentary experiences in natural product extraction and identification; drug discovery; chemical synthesis; analysis; and business commercialisation. They have used their past experiences to develop a flagship gin and a range of other spirit-based drinks. The directors live in different parts of the country so the company operates at three locations: with manufacture and distribution from Conwy and Brighouse and the scientific development centre in Durham. The company is aware of its position in the communities we serve and are proud to have co-sponsored a number of charity events. We also work tirelessly to minimise the company’s impact on the environment by aiming to either re-use or recycle packaging that our raw ingredients arrive in.
